Christmas Church Cake – Cesare Parazzi

Instructions

1.Member: Cesare Parazzi Cuisine - Mediolanum Christmas church An original idea to decorate and sweeten the Christmas table. What I propose is how I made the composition, but everyone can make the variations they consider most appropriate. It involves drawing the church shapes on a piece of cardboard. Cut them out and transfer them onto a sheet of shortcrust pastry 4 mm thick. Bake the various parts, taking care, halfway through baking, to fill the window holes with pieces of hard candy (the hard, transparent kind) to achieve a stained glass effect. In the 10-15 minutes at 180 degrees that the biscuits will take to bake, the candies will melt, forming a transparent and striking "stained glass" that will stick to the edges of the biscuit. If there are any "holes" remaining, add a little bit of crushed candy (almost powder this time, so it melts quickly) and put it back in the oven for a moment. If you add the candies from the beginning, the sugar burns and turns dark. Assemble the various pieces with melted chocolate or caramelized sugar. Variations: Instead of shortcrust pastry, use gingerbread. With the same system you can make the nativity stable with a coloured window. Make the various nativity figures with a candy halo. Make "stained glass biscuits" to hang on the tree. Make a hole in the biscuits to fill with crushed candy.
